Six cities are vying for the title
of Capital of Culture.
Which will be crowned with the title for 2008? |
|
| The European Union decided in 1999
that, each year, the European Council should choose a city to become
"European Capital of Culture".
The selection process is a competition, the winner being the city considered most able to represent their country and Europe by putting on a year-long celebration of international cultural events highlighting European culture. 2004 Lille, 2005
Cork (Ireland), 2006 Patras (Greece), 2007 Luxembourg, 2008... In
2008, the Cultural Capital of Europe will be a city in Great Britain.
