Converse is an American shoe company which has been making shoes since the early 20th century.
In 1908, Marquis M. Converse opened the Converse Rubber Shoe Company (also known as the Boston Rubber Shoe Company) in Malden, Massachusetts. The company was a shoe manufacturer which created them for men women or children.

But the right beginning of the designer is in 1917 when the Converse All-Star basketball shoe was introduced. They become famous in 1918 when Chuck Taylor the star on NBA wore them during the matches. They were only black because they were used only for basketball matches. The Converse All-Star became the “Chuck Taylor All- Stars” when Converse gave him the job of salesman and ambassador. Then the basketball player promoted the shoes around the United States. In 1923 his signature was added to the All Star patch.

When The United States entered Word War II in 1941, Converse gave boots, parkas ans ponchos for pilots and troops.
The Chuck Taylor All Star basketball shoe became white in 1947.
In 1984, Converse All-Star is the main sponsor of the Olympic Games.
Under pressure from basketball teams it was decided in 1966 to manufacture other colors. Different materials began to appear also, starting in the 1970s, such as leather, suede and vinyl, rather than just canvas.
On July 9, 2003, the company accepted a $305 million purchase offer from rival Nike.

For few years, Converse does it come-back. Moreover, everybody can wear these shoes: boys and girls, men or women, and children. You can wear All Star with many clothes like a jean, a dress, a short, a skirt…Some men wear these shoes with a costume! Today, the stars wear All Stars! Fashion designers like Dior or Chanel created their own versions of these shoes. Now, Converse is a famous designer and people like it because it represents their waiting about today’s fashion.
